So I've been looking for the solution for a while, I even posted here and was told it was impossible. But, I figured it out!

First, remove the disc and uninstall the game from your PS4. Then you're gonna go to Library on the PS4, where it holds all of your games even if they're uninstalled. This step is important, because if you go to the PS Store it will tell you you've already purchased and you can't download. So when you get to Library, find FFXIV and click and you'll be able to install the digital version. For some reason, unlike other games, it will recognize that you already have bought it and let you download the digital version. And there you go, no more disc!
